Bling. Gratuitous shiny objects. To be ignored because it’s made of cheap plastic, costs a quarter of a millicent and they make zillions of them in some dedicated city in China.
It’s also a good description of how some cloud vendors treat all that miscellaneous stuff they cheerfully expect customers to hang off their local network to use cloud services. Very shiny. Makes wonderful things happen.
May or may not be scandalously insecure. Hopefully not. Trivial (for the average 21st century adversary) to evaluate. We may need a safety team.
The “cloud bling safety team” would be folks who make sure all those little bits and pieces, shiny, small, embedded network-aware widgets are at least vaguely acting safely on your network.
Are you on the team?
